Google’s Chromecast is set to be the Android 8.0.1 update to Android 8, with the first major Android 8 release coming soon.
But what happens if you don’t like Android 8?
According to a new report from the Android Authority, Google is planning to offer a Chrome-based Android 8 update for Chromecast.
The Chromecast will be the first Android 8 device to receive the update, which Google announced last year.
Chromecast owners will be able to download the update over the Air, which means that they will be on the same version of Android as their Android device.
As far as when this update will arrive is unclear, but Google did announce last year that Android 8 updates would be rolling out to Chromecast over the air in March, which is around the same time that the Google Play Store will update.
Google is reportedly planning to roll out a Chromecast update for all Android devices, including Chromebooks, at the same moment that it rolls out updates for Chromeboxes.
In the meantime, Google may be planning to push the Chromecast to Android 9 as soon as April.
